Women Development Cell

         Women's Development and Gender Equality are the most important requirements for the enlistment and progress of our nation. To make NPR  College of Engineering & Technology a strong kernel of gender sensitization, the Women Development Cell (WDC) was constituted in 2013. The Cell has both the faculty and students of the College as its members and works to create a gender-sensitized community within the campus as well as in society.

Vision:

  • Molding and enlightening young minds and paving their way to grow into balanced and better human beings

Mission:

  • To encourage female students to be self-reliant and economically independent. 
  • To instill positive self-esteem and confidence in the female students so they can make the right decisions in and for their lives
  • Spreading awareness among the students about the social, legal, and constitutional rights of women to prevent exploitation based on gender.
  • Making females cognizant of different kinds of violence: sexual, physical, and mental and to further equip them with the knowledge and strength to fight against them.
  • Creating awareness about the need for gender equality.
  • Providing equal career opportunities to all genders.
  • Eliminating deep-rooted beliefs of gender bias and discrimination

 

Objectives •    

  • To resolve issues about girls'/women's sexual harassment.
  • To resolve issues through the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)
  • To equip the female students, faculty, and staff members with knowledge of their legal rights.
  • To safeguard the rights of female students, faculty, and staff members.
  • To provide a platform for listening to complaints and redressal of grievances.
  • To incorporate hygiene habits and ensure a healthy atmosphere in and around the college.
  • To ensure personality along with academic development of students.

Events Details

Women Development Cell had organized the Legal Awareness Program for girls  in NPR college of Engineering & Technology. The Chief GuestMrs.S.Dhana Lakshmi, Senior Advocate, Madurai gave the impart practical knowledge about the basic legal rights and remedies provided under various women related laws, thereby making them fit to face the challenges in real life situations. To create awareness about the various machineries of the Justice delivery system available for redressal of their problems/grievances and also explained about the Legal Awareness Program aims to empower the youth of our country with the knowledge of their legal rights and duties, ultimately to be able to share power equally, gain full access to the means of development and to inspire a whole generation of women to work together towards achieving gender equality and justice.
